“Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination”
I first heard this phrase in a pastor’s sermon. To this day, I continue to learn lessons from them. It was originally framed to me as a way to overcome negative habits – say, an alcoholic – find some way to just not drink the next drink, even if you want to and that’s a win. It also works framed for habits you want to build – want to become a runner? Go for a run. Doesn’t matter what you feel like. Recently, I’ve learned that it means sustained direction – if you take 2 steps north, 3 steps south, 1 step east and 2 steps west, you haven’t gone very far from where you started.
What direction are you headed in?
Form is hard, even for a short distance. After 50m of most exercises, I had a strong urge to lose form. Good to see a lot of inner loopers that I don’t get to hang with as much. Excellent coffeeteria at Einsteins although that’s coming to an end next week.
