River WOP

THE SCENE:  (I enjoy seeing the back of Steinbrenner’s head as a backdrop for these things.  Mudpants/Sandbagger always trying to get into focus on the far right which makes me chuckle.  Ole Mudpants, typical)  Get out there in the gloom! Limited time only- perfect weather.  I showed up extra early to get a few ruck miles in with Rabbit who completed his ALPNHA challenge.  Always support a PAX who sets his mind to purpose and his feet to task!

F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER:  You are welcome, you are disclaimed, now let’s get to work.

WARM-O-RAMA:   Deep stretches IC; touch your toes, right over, left over, spread’em down in front, to the right, to the left.  Right leg up, left leg up. Catalina Wine Mixer x 11 IC.

THA-THANG:   I’m tired of bringing Sally up and down.  We used the songs “River” by Bishop Briggs and the classic “WOP” by J. Dash.

Round 1: Burpees each time ‘river’ was sung (35) and deep (real) squats in between AMRAP.  Calve raises on the ‘wop’ (219) and curb toe taps in between AMRAP.

Round 2: Pull-ups on the ‘river’ (35) and free hangs in between. Dips on the ‘wop’ (219) and crunches in between AMRAP.

Round 3: Froggers on the ‘river’ (35) and Mt. Climbers in between AMRAP. Vertical jumps (hops) on the ‘wop’ and SSH’s in between AMRAP.

Round 4: Hand release merkins (35) on the ‘river’ and shoulder taps in between AMRAP.

MARY:   BBSU’s x 20 IC, Gas Pumps x 15 IC

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA:   12 PAX, 1 FNG (Masterpiece),  Shy Guy, Beauty Shop,  Chef, Lipton, Evan Almighty, Laettner, Millenial, Paper Trail, Rabbit, Shy Guy, Tomb Raider, Vengeance

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:   The day of suffering is better than the day of rejoicing.

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4    It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.  Frustration is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.

We do not long for the day of suffering to come upon us.  We enjoy pleasure and happieness.  However, I think what King Solomon is saying, in part, is that we grow in the faith and in wisdom more through times of adversity.  Again, don’t let the comforts of our lives dull us into complacency.  Embrace the days of sorrow as times when growth occurs, IF you stay disciplined and place your faith in something greater than yourself.

It was nice to suffer alongside the PAX this morning foresaking the warmth of the bed we pushed ourselves physically and mentally.

MOLESKIN:   Rabbit completed those 100 miles after the BC.  Beauty Shop and I joined him for the last mile and it was a good thing to share in his accomplishment.  The FNG held up as any good theological graduate student would.  Lipton looked proud and I envision him humming WOP to himself in the library all day long.  Masterpiece was named Masterpiece because his first name is K.C. and he’s from Texas.  A play on the BBQ sauce, not from Texas.  It’s fun to have music every now and then.  It helps maintain a good rythm and pace.  The SSH and jump round transformed the Berm into an early morning rave.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:   Community Ruck this Saturday evening.  Bring donation supplies and read the announcement on slack and in the weekly backblast.  Prayer requests for Coach Patton (health), Millenial’s relative Destiny (health), and for Lipton’s family with the passing of his grandmother.
