Preblast for the Week of 1/13/19

Preblast COT:
I’m reading The Common Rule, which is about creating habits that add structure to your life to help you be the type of person you want to be. In F3 speak, it’s about constructing guardrails to keep you Accelerating through the twists and turns that life throws at you. “Habits are how we get our hands on our purpose,” kind of sums up the goal of the book (page 15). The author recommends developing eight habits – four daily and four weekly. Inspired by his recommendations, I want to challenge you to try two things this week.
1) Turn your phone off for one hour every day. I don’t mean put it on silent or put it away somewhere (although that’s also a good idea), but actually turn it off. I’m going to do this when I get home after work and on weekend mornings.
2) Spend 20 minutes alone in silence once this week. “All of man’s problems stem from his inability to sit quietly in a room alone” – Blaise Pascal

The Amateur lets life happen to him and in the end accomplishes very little of lasting value. The Pro strives to build a legacy by impacting the people around him. That doesn’t happen by accident; it takes intentional effort.

2020 CSAUP Events:
Completely Stupid And Utterly Pointless! Be on the lookout for several opportunities in 2020 to do some difficult and rewarding fitness events with your F3 brothers. Relay teams for the Big Buffalo 50 in March are forming now! The Half Ironman is in October. F3 Nation is working on a new type of GrowRuck event that will probably be coming to a city near us, date and location TBD. Finally, there are rumors of an F3 Tennessee convergence somewhere in the middle of the state.
