COT / BOM: Very often, I want to quit. I have to fight the urge to wilt in the face of pressure. The little boy inside of me has to be killed on a daily basis so I don’t just sit down, cry, and poop my pants when things get hard. All that to say… I respond well to external, negative motivation–you know, the classic drill sergeant. Sometimes I have to provide this myself by vocalizing what I need to hear (i.e., “Don’t be a b*^$h, Gus!”). Uncle Teddy had something to say about this:
Theodore Roosevelt: “We need the iron qualities that go with true manhood. We need the positive virtues of resolution, of courage, of indomitable will, of power to do without shrinking the rough work that must always be done.”
Moleskin: The Men were undaunted by a rain-soaked Apocalypto, so I had to beat them down with 210 merkins. Great morning!
