Dora Themed Birthday Bash

THE SCENE: The Levee on a brisk, above freezing gloom perfect for a Spring Break Birthday celebration. I could feel the excitement rising as each PAX drove on to the lot. The HIM coming off the 4:30 ruck were in good spirts and primed for a beat down.

F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER
I’m not a professional. I’m not being paid. You are not paying to be here. I am a volunteer and you are all volunteering. We are all here to get better. Know your limits and modify as needed. In other words: Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

WARM-O-RAMA:
My M would point out here that I have no sense of rhythm or can’t keep a beat to save my life, but I wasn’t about to let those minor setbacks get in the way of a good time.
SSH x20 IC
Daisy Pickers x10 IC
Goofballs x10 IC
Big Arm Circles x15 IC each way

The PAX were gracious with my skill deficit and encouraging.

Mosey to Football Field.

THA-THANG:
Getting the Party Started: Some people might like some appetizers while they mix and mingle at a party, but we party the F3 way. Bear Crawl to the 10 yard line and complete 10 overhead claps, rinse and repeat to the 50 yard line and back. Hold Al Gore until all in.

I remember the best birthdays when I was little usually had a theme. Let’s see, there was a Thundercats party, a Hook party, and even a Batman party. This year is no different! This year’s theme: Dora the Explorer! I know what you’re thinking, Dora- aren’t we a little old? Well Dora showed up and almost brought the party down!
DORA 1-2-3:
Partner up. Partners alternate running to the 50 yard line and back and doing cumulative sets of exercises.
100 Merkins
200 Big boy sit-ups
300 Squats

The PAX didn’t say it, but I think they liked this better than regular party games.

Unfortunately there was no cake (though we did end up with some Sprinkles). Everyone was able to savor some early morning Parkins x10 OYO. (Partnered merkins, one partner planks while the other partner uses them for a derkin. Switch partners and repeat.)

Mosey to Start Point.

MARY:
Finally the best part of the party, PRESENTS. Well, no one actually brought presents, but this VQ did not leave empty handed. Everyone gave the gift of Mary.
Dealer’s Choice Birthday Gifts until time:
Slutter Kicks
Box Cutters
American Hammers
Imperial Squat Walkers
Pickle Pounders
Freddie Mercuries

Best Party Ever!

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
A recent reading of The Good Samaritan got me thinking about how we “love your neighbor”. This morning we shared the story of the Good Samaritan Luke 10: 25-37 (who I think would have been in F3 by the way he hoisted the injured man on the the horse). All of us are busy and have important things to occupy our time like the Priest and the Levite, but we are called to be and do more than the status quo. The Samaritan in the story was just an average Joe, but he had compassion and put others ahead of himself. We should do the same. I left a challenge for the PAX to complete a random act of kindness today as a way to honor the Good Samaritan (one catch, can’t be for an F3 guy, which might make us just another Priest or Levite). Once completed post it on GroupMe to encourage the other HIM to do the same.

MOLESKIN:
Just over a month ago I decided I wanted to try and Q, but knew I wasn’t ready. My first BC was at the Levee after Captain Obvious EH’ed me. I think I modified everything that morning, but I kept coming back because several people told me that the workouts wouldn’t get easier, I would just get better. I can tell I’m getting better. I modify less, can breathe, and don’t feel like dying after each beat down.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Green Monster’s VQ at the Morg tomorrow 3/15!
