1000 reps on 12/31…#resolved

THE SCENE: uncharacteristically warm with light showers; damp.

  • SSH x 30 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x 15 IC
  • Hillbillies x 15 IC
  • Daisy Pickers x 10 IC
  • Windmills x 10 IC

Q was contacted by Shoestring on 12/30 with ideas for a 1000 rep BC to coincide with his pending completion of 1000 ruck miles in 2018.  QIC thought that was a great idea and Shoestring became a co-Q.  Tha-thang was Dora 1-2-3-4 with a run across the OF parking lot in between reps.  The PAX divided into pairs and completed:

  • Burpees: 100 reps
  • Merkins: 200 reps
  • Big Boy Sit ups: 300 reps
  • Squats: 400 reps
  • Total rep count: 1000 reps.

  • American Hammers x 50 IC
  • ABC’s
  • Flutter Kicks x 10 IC

13 PAX (no FNGs)
QIC discussed his recent struggle with the F3 Lexicon (i.e. t-claps being “Thunder” claps and not “Triple” claps…thanks for nothing Chiochetti), and also Shoestrings’ accomplishment of 1000 miles under his ruck.  He resolved to accomplish this goal and put in the work for 365 to accomplish it.  It took work.  It took resolve.  It took dedication.  It was not easy.

QIC discussed the “Red Pill” (The choice of the hard-true life of the HIM over the easy-true life of the Mascot) and also the “Blue Pill” (The choice of the easy-false life of a Mascot over the hard-true life of the HIM).  On 12/31, many men and women will make new years resolutions.  They will commit to lose weight, exercise more, eat better, read, be more faithful in their bible reading, etc.  As HIM, we also have this opportunity.  According to the F3 Lexicon, a “Resolutionist” is a man who takes the Red Pill on 1/1, but is back to the Blue Pill on 2/1.

QIC discussed that this frequently has been my experience with new years resolutions.  My challenge to the PAX was to take the daily red pill.  To challenge ourselves  to put in work and take the harder, more difficult path.  To not engage pain and difficulty as bad, but to understand that good things do require sacrifice, commitment, and, yes, sometimes pain.  We want to be HIM and not Mascots (A symbol of something rather than the something itself.).  QIC challenged the PAX to be resolved to set goals in fitness, fellowship, and faith and to put in the work every day committing to take the daily red pill just like Shoestring.
Very encouraging morning.  Started with 8 PAX showing up at 4:30 to ruck with Shoestring as he completed his goal of 1000 miles rucking in 2018.  As we moved into BC, each PAX was pushing the other to complete their goal and every single pair of HIM finished their total rep count with 4 minutes left.  Thankful to HIM like Teacher’s Pet and OP who brought coffee for PLC and am always reminded of why I want to take the DRP and post with these F3 brothers of mine.  Great way to end 2018 and I’m excited for 2019.

Prayers: Crayfish and the Lord’s plan for his employment and service.  For peace and for comfort in this time of waiting and uncertainty.
